Damon Albarn reveals Gorillaz album was 'inspired by Donald Trump'

Damon Albarn spoke exclusively to Mistajam on BBC Radio 1
Damon Albarn says the new Gorillaz album is a "dark fantasy" partially inspired by Donald Trump's presidency.
"I suppose we were imagining the idea of Donald Trump [...] That was our dark fantasy. Unfortunately it became reality".
The singer exclusively shared two new tracks from Humanz on MistaJam's BBC Radio 1 show on Thursday.
Popcaan, Grace Jones, Kelela and Benjamin Clementine are among the artists featured on the album.

"The album came from this dark fantasy, which came into my head [at] the beginning of last year," says the 49-year-old.
"Just imagine the weirdest, most unpredictable thing that changes everything about the world. How will you feel on that night?
"It's got an interesting atmosphere about it, this record."

Humanz, the band's fifth album, is due for release on 28 April.
MistaJam played two tracks, Andromeda (feat. D.R.A.M.) and Saturnz Barz (feat. Popcaan).
Damon insists that despite the dark thoughts behind the album, it's got an upbeat feel.
"It's a party record, it's a club record," he says.

And Humanz has some other unlikely inspirations.
"I watched a lot of [1970s pop group] Earth, Wind and Fire videos," says Damon. "That's what I'm going for this year. A public midlife crisis."
He also revealed he wants to record a Fire In The Booth - although he couldn't remember the name of Charlie Sloth's famous MC challenge.
"I want to do that thing you do, where you put a beat on and then people rap over the top of it.
"You give me a beat and I'll make you a tune, straight away."
