Kim Kardashian is being criticised after posting a message saying that getting the flu "can be an amazing diet".

The reality TV star said she'd lost 6lb after getting ill but that she was "so happy it came in time for the Met lol".

She's talking about her illness being good for losing weight before attending New York's Met Gala on 1 May.

Many Twitter users said her comment was insensitive but others replied saying she was just being sarcastic.

She's now deleted the tweet.

Kira said the star should think before she tweets.

She said: "Now imagine saying that to your daughter after she gets sick...", external

Kevin said flu does have more serious consequences than losing weight.

He said: "People also die, from the flu...but glad you feeling better.", external

And Nicholas also said some people couldn't afford to buy medicine to stop the flu becoming more serious.

He said: "The fact you're joking about it confirms your intelligence level. Thousands die each yr from the flu bc of insufficient resources/strength.", external

Mel says getting the flu could kill her.

She said: "As a person on chemo - & therefore immunosuppressed - this isn't really a great thing to put out there. The flu could literally kill me...", external

Carmen said she influences young people, so shouldn't be advocating weight loss through getting ill.

She said: "You're aware of the amount of people that follow you/are inspired by you, right? lots of them being impressionable young people?", external

But Staci thinks Kim Kardashian was joking and people need to lighten up on Twitter.

She said: "I'm in love with the fact that people don't understand your humor. It's shallow humor, but still... this is a joke people.", external

Aiesha also thinks people don't get sarcasm.

She said: "Omg the stupid in some of these people is freaking ridiculous. Sarcasm people, sarcasm... gzzz get a life.", external
