Why Red Dead Redemption 2 is delayed until spring 2018

Release of the much-anticipated game Red Dead Redemption 2 will be delayed until spring next year.
The follow up to the massive 2010 hit was initially due to be released in Autumn 2017.
Rockstar, the game's creators, say, external they needed the extra time "to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans."
They also teased new screenshots from the game, and said they will release more details about it in the summer.

Rockstar, which also makes the Grand Theft Auto series, calls Red Dead Redemption 2 an "outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland".
It was expected to be one of this year's biggest releases.
"We have not run into particular issues," says Strauss Zelnick, external, the head of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive.
"We want to make sure that the appropriate time is taken to do the very best job we can."
He also said that the delay is because it's the first game they are building "from the ground up" for new-generation consoles - namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Fans' reactions to the announcement are divided.
Twitter user Angrypug said it would be "worth the wait".

Yarn said that rival games' releases may have something to do with it.
And Damien Wilkins said that the delay wouldn't stop the game still needing a patch.

Luckily, says Matthew C Taylor, there are "lots of other games coming out".
Rockstar must deal with a lot of expectation for the new release, as it will be their first game since the huge success of Grand Theft Auto V, which is one of the highest-selling games of all time.
The first Red Dead Redemption was very well-received, selling over 15 million copies and gaining a 95% rating on review aggregator Metacritic.
It also made Newsbeat's gaming reporter cry.
