Charli XCX says she needs a "boy detox" after featuring male stars from Stormzy to Tom Daley in the video for her new song, Boys.

"I've been shooting this video with loads of boys in it. It's been boy crazy," she told Radio 1's Annie Mac.

The difference is the male stars in her new video are dancing to her tune, literally.

Charli says she texted "all the guys she's met in the industry" and that she "felt she could harass enough of them".

"They were super down and got right on board, it was amazing. They really went for it.

"There's a shower scene with Tom Daley - it's good."

And then there's her teen crush Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco.

"My favourite emo band when I was younger... oh my God!"

The men are "basically doing all the sexy things that girls usually do in videos".

New album next year

She describes her new pool of music as a "full-length swimming pool".

"This is definitely the beginning of the album now. I've been writing the album... forever, basically."

But she says she is "taking her time".

"I do a lot of writing for other people, which is really important to me and I want to keep doing that and have the time to do that.

"I just love being in the studio. I make a lot of music so it's kind of difficult for me to pick 12 songs and put them out there.

"The album's going to be next year and I'm not going to think about it until a month before it has to come out.

"Then I'll be like, structure, go."

On Twitter, she said: "thank u so much for this incredible reaction to the boys video! i love u angels! ok so ultimate challenge- who can name all the boys? GO!", external
