A student guide to Birmingham for Bran Stark actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright

Actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright (that's Bran Stark from Game Of Thrones to most of us) is studying at Birmingham University.

He's been spotted by excited students who've tweeted they "cannot deal" with having The Three-Eyed Raven on campus.

But Isaac will most likely spend more time at Joe's Bar than he will 'warging' into the local wildlife.

"I got told by my older brothers, who are Game Of Thrones fans," says George Rogers, a second year history student.

George, 19, tells Newsbeat word has spread since an article in The Tab reported on Isaac's academic whereabouts.

But George says Birmingham is a great campus to study on, even for someone who's journeyed beyond the wall, escaped an army of the undead and travelled back in time (on television).

"The architecture is incredible," George says. "The people are really welcoming. You get on with pretty much everyone you meet."

George is a member of the Birmingham Lacrosse Club (he recommends Isaac join a sports club if he wants an easy way of making friends) and according to other students, Isaac is already signing up for campus activities.

Sophie says her friend signed Isaac up to join a society.

"The big student nights are Stupid Tuesdays, Sports Night on a Wednesday and Fab & Fresh on Saturday night," says George, hung over from Sports Night when we spoke to him.

Stupid Tuesdays happens at Players and Fab & Fresh is held at Birmingham student union, The Guild Of Students.

"The Rainbow Venues is a big one, they had Idris Elba there. It's techno based, it's like a rave scene." he says, in case Isaac is up for something heavier than a Ramin Djawadi score.

For every Daenerys there's a Walder Frey and not all of Birmingham's night spots come with such strong recommendations.

"Prism on a Saturday night, it's quite male dominated,"" says George.

"Also the drinks get rounded up, I think I bought five drinks and it came to £25."

Where next for mead and meat?

George recommends a particular chicken shop for drunk and hungry students after a night out on the town.

"Go to Roosters," he says. "It's in Selly Oak where a lot of the second and third year students live but even the first years go there.

"It's a really cheap chicken shop. They've upgraded now to a bigger place, it's a bigger place but it's still really cheap."

Things to do when the war is over

And when students are tired of the drinking and the partying, George says there's plenty of sober activities to keep Birmingham newcomers entertained.

As well as The Bullring and trampoline centre Jump Nation, he says the place is great for football fans, with Aston Villa, Birmingham City, West Brom, Walsall all based in the area.

And if Isaac has a sweet tooth, he can head to the Cadbury Factory in Bournville, and to get there he can just follow his nose.

"I run past the Cadbury factory and you can smell the chocolate from quite a way off," says George.

Isaac has been part of the Game Of Thrones cast since the HBO series began in 2011

And for anyone starting university, whether it's a TV actor or just someone who's been fairly successful in their A-levels, George says being outgoing in your first year is essential to enjoying yourself.

"Anyone who is a bit clever can pass first year," he says.

"It's good to throw yourself into everything, do it even if it's a bit crazy, why not?

"I feel like this is the time to do things you want to but haven't been able to do."

Such as conquering The Seven Kingdoms and defeating The Night King, perhaps.
