Netflix confirms new Top Boy series with Drake as a producer

Netflix has announced a new series of Top Boy scheduled for release in 2019.
It's also been confirmed that Drake will be joining the show as an executive producer.
Top Boy, which centres around life on a drug-riddled London council estate, stars Ashley Walters and Kane 'Kano' Robinson.
The show won a Bafta Award in 2012 and attracted an international audience after launching on Channel 4.
Rumours of a new series had been circulating for a while and just last week Ashley Walters, who plays gang leader Dushane, teased an upcoming announcement.

The show was well received after its launch in 2011 with m ore than 1m people regularly tuning in each week.
As well as proving a hit with British viewers the series also caught the eye of Drake.
The Canadian rapper liked the drama so much he bought the production rights to the show.

Netflix is yet to release exact details of the upcoming storyline but confirmed the series will run for 10 episodes.

Drake has collaborated with UK artists including Skepta, Giggs and Jorja Smith - he's also used UK slang in his lyrics - leading some to joke about a possible alternative motive for bringing the show back.

In a statement Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett said: "I am delighted to be reunited once more with the Top Boy team, our wonderful cast and to have Drake as new a collaborator.
"And I could not be prouder to be doing the show with Netflix."
