Jack Saunders has been revealed as the new host of Radio 1's Official Chart Show.

The 29-year-old is set to take over presenting duties from Scott Mills, who recently announced he was leaving for Radio 2.

Jack has presented Radio 1's Future Artists and Indie Shows and presented the BBC's Glastonbury 2022 coverage.

He said he couldn't wait to join "the endless list of legends" who have presented the weekly chart show.

The show counts down the 40 best-selling and most streamed UK music singles every Friday.

And despite more and more artists finding fame through TikTok and away from record labels, Jack believes the official list still matters.

"It's massive still, the chart," he tells BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat.

"Regardless of where a song breaks, the presentation of how well that song is doing will always be on the Official Chart Show."

And Jack's excited by the unpredictability - as seen recently when Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill went to number one thanks to its use in Stranger Things.

"That gives the chart life and meaning and purpose because we're able to bring to life these songs from the past that have had big moments," he says.

"Or take a brand new artist that no-one has really heard about and bring them to life in exactly the same way."

Previous hosts have included Jameela Jamil, Clara Amfo and Greg James.

Jack, who is due to take over the show in September, will also lead the chart's 70th anniversary celebrations in November.
