The Right Reverend Saju Muthulay is being installed as Bishop of Loughborough this weekend at Leicester Cathedral.

He became Bishop of Loughborough in 2022 but couldn't be installed as the Cathedral was closed for renovations.

A Choral Evensong service is taking place to celebrate his new role on Sunday at 3:30pm.

Bishop Saju succeeds Guli Francis-Dehqani, who moved to Chelmsford in March 2021.

The Bishop was born in Kerala, South India and grew up in Bangalore where his family were part of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

He was previously a vicar of St Mark's Church in Gillingham, and said he was "even more excited" for this week's ceremony despite the delay.

"In that time, I have come to know and cherish the Diocese - the people, places and parishes within it" he said.

"I am grateful to serve the people of Leicester and Leicestershire as their Suffragan Bishop."

As Suffragan Bishop, he will oversee the diocese with the Bishop of Leicester, the Right Reverend Martyn Snow.

The service will also install three Honorary Canons, and the Commissioning of the Diocesan Women's Group.

The Diocese of Leicester say that anyone is welcome to attend.
