How we made the visual effects of Interstellar

Paul Franklin has already won a Bafta award for his work on the visual effects in the sci-fi movie Interstellar.

These included a virtual black hole that required the development of a computer graphics rendering package that was driven by Albert Einstein's equations from the theory of general relativity.

The visual effects supervisor will discover this weekend whether his work will also be honoured with an Oscar - a prize he would share, external with his colleagues Andrew Lockley, Ian Hunter and Scott Fisher.

Ahead of the announcement, Mr Franklin told BBC Click how he went about creating the most accurate representation of a black hole depicted to date.
