In pictures: The Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race
There was unexpected drama in the 158th Boat Race, halted after 10 minutes when the sight of a swimmer in the river forced the crews to stop.
The swimmer was arrested by police on suspicion of a public order offence.
Umpire John Garrett eventually restarted the Boat Race 31 minutes after it was disrupted.
In the rerun race, Oxford's Dr Hanno Wienhausen broke his oar in a clash with Cambridge's rowers and the contest was effectively over as eight men took on seven.
Oxford had gone into the race as the defending champions, but Cambridge's victory extended their lead overall in the contest to 81-76.
There was further drama as Oxford's bowman Dr Alexander Woods needed to be helped ashore after he collapsed in the boat.
The traditional post-race presentation ceremony was abandoned after Dr Wood's collapse.
