Londonderry shooting: 'My son had to be shot'

A vigilante group in Northern Ireland has been accused of carrying out paramilitary-style shootings in Londonderry, driving scores of people out of the city.

The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) is said to be policing Londonderry by telling young men it suspects of involvement in drugs that they must either leave the city, agree to be shot in the legs or face death.

The shootings have led to protests in the city.

One woman, the mother of a drug user who was targeted by the group, told BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour why she allowed her son to be "shot by appointment".
