Your stories: Team GB's night of athletics glory
- Published
Great Britain enjoyed their most successful day at an Olympics in 104 years by winning six gold medals on day eight of London 2012.
Jessica Ennis, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah won the heptathlon, long jump and 10,000m within less than an hour of each other on what was the best day in Olympic history for GB athletics.
BBC News website readers who witnessed the events of a dramatic night at the Olympic Stadium share their stories.
Tim Lightfoot, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Surely the best night of sporting drama I have ever witnessed.
We shouted ourselves hoarse when Jessica won and the whole stadium was bouncing when Mo was on his last lap to glory.
It was an unbelievable night. The highlight for me was the way the crowd got behind Mo on his last lap. I really think it helped him win.
The whole experience of being there, going to the park, the helpful volunteers, it was really great.
Paul Steeles, Farnham, Surrey
I witnessed history being made. I am so immensely proud to be British.
The atmosphere and sheer delight in the Olympic Stadium from all spectators of all countries was something I will never ever feel again, and it's a night that I will never forget.
What an unbelievable experience. We hoped to see Jess Ennis grab her much-deserved gold in the heptathlon, but to see Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford get gold as well - it sent shivers down the spine of everyone there.
It truly was an astonishingly, unforgettable evening. London was the centre of the universe for a few hours tonight, and to say I was there, right in the middle of it, is something that will be with me forever.
Jeremy Cooper, Manchester
Jessica was odds-on favourite yet she still had to do it. Jess did it in the style of the true champion she is.
Greg who? What was going on? You watched in awe as you watched "the real life movie" appear before you. A star was born.
Finally, a race that really belonged at Aintree or Ascot - was that Mo Farah or Red Rum? The crowd roared like nothing I have ever heard. All left that stadium with sore throats.
I was fortunate to be in the crowd when Manchester United won the European Cup in Barcelona in 1999.
I remember leaving the ground and thinking that as long as I watch sport I would never experience a moment of euphoria such as I had experienced that evening. Well how wrong I was.

Words can't really describe how it felt to be there. Jess Ennis should enjoy every accolade bestowed on her - how she has dealt with the pressure and delivered is inspiring. Although it felt like a bit of a sideshow, Rutherford was brilliant! Natalie Murray, Buckinghamshire
I'm still pinching myself - I can't believe that I was there to witness it, not to mention the amazing luck of snagging a ticket less than 24 hours before the event! John Ringer, London
I witnessed the whole thing, it was the best night of my life. It's the greatest day in British sport for a long time - possibly ever. The noise whenever Jess was participating (be that throwing, jumping, or running) was absolutely incredible. Mo was brilliant. Jonny Bullock, Essex
It was gold in three flavours: expected, maybe and where did that come from? The crowd won gold too, taking noise levels to record-breaking point where it created distortion in your ears. Robert Thomas, London
