A village chief on the Solomon island of Marapa welcomed Prince William and Catherine. The couple wore traditional garlands made from shells and dolphins' teeth found washed up on the shore.

On Sunday, the royal couple were greeted by thousands of people as they toured the capital of the Solomon Islands, Honiara, on a truck decorated as a canoe.

On Saturday, the couple visited Borneo where they took in some of the sights of the Borneo Rainforest Research Centre in Danum Valley, some 70 km (44 miles) west of Lahad Datu. Afterwards, the duchess told reporters that she could have "stayed up there for hours, even though there were a lot of ants".

The couple were hoisted more than 40m (130ft) up into the rainforest canopy to experience a bird's eye view of the unique eco-system. The prince has a longstanding interest in conservation.
