The third stage of the Tour de France has seen cyclists race from Cambridge to London. Here are images from along their journey.

The Tour de France's 96-mile (155km) route began in Cambridge for the 197 riders, who began their day by passing that world-famous seat of learning, Cambridge University.

Travelling from Cambridge to London meant the riders saw plenty of the English countryside. This shot shows the Team Sky riders with Britain's Christopher Froome in last position.

The people of the village of Finchingfield in north Essex turned out in force to see the world-famous race pass by their very doorsteps.

And wherever they went, the cyclists were given a warm welcome by the locals.

Clive and Andrea Bush had ringside seats for the cyclists, as they whizzed past the couple's Finchingfield home.

Eventually the riders reached London, but they would not have had much time to appreciate all the landmarks, as they were approaching the end of the race.

The London leg of the route went past many of the famous sights found in the city.

Some cycling fans went to extra lengths to see the riding action - this man climbed a tree in London's Parliament Square.

This stage of the race was won after a sprint finish by Germany's Marcel Kittel

At the end of the day it was Astana team rider, and overall race leader, Vincenzo Nibali of Italy wearing the yellow leader's race jersey.
