Philip Hammond: Skills a 'big issue' to address post-Brexit

Philip Hammond has said the UK needs to do significantly more in training and upskilling young people to prepare the economy for a post-Brexit future.

The Chancellor told The Andrew Marr Show technical routes need to be "as rigorous" and as well understood as academic routes are.

Vocational and technical education in England is set to get an extra £500m a year under plans to be set out in next week's Budget.
