Prof Jonathan Van-Tam: 'These vaccines save lives'
England's deputy chief medical officer Prof Jonathan Van-Tam has said the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and saves lives, after concerns in Europe about it increasing the risk of blood clots.
He urged people to take up their vaccine offer, saying "vaccines don't save lives if they're in fridges... they only save lives if they're in arms" and compared the risks of side effects to those associated with other drugs such as paracetamol.
