Derwent Valley wood gets £210,000

Durham Wildlife Trust has been given £210,000 to preserve woodland.

The money will be used to conserve Milkwellburn Wood in the Derwent Valley, which is the home of rare wildlife and endangered flowers.

The money has been donated by Premier Waste Management, raised from its landfill tax on its site in Blaydon.

The Wildlife Trust is working to enhance the green corridor that runs along the valley and connects Tyneside with Derwent Reservoir and west Durham.
