Vandals target County Durham ambulance station

  • Published

Vandals who targeted a County Durham ambulance station have been warned they are putting lives at risk.

It follows a number of incidents at Fishburn, in which vehicles belonging to the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were interfered with.

Large sections of the perimeter chain link fence, wiring to an aerial mast, an electrical conductor and Health and Safety signage have all been damaged.

The service is now reviewing security measures at the station.

David Edwards, from NEAS, said: "Tampering with equipment such as aerials and vehicles could easily cost someone their life.

"It appears the vandalism is down to a hardcore of local youths who have been carrying out various acts of anti-social behaviour.

"I would urge anyone involved in this type of activity to stop before either they, or someone else, gets hurt."
