East Midlands digital switchover date announced

The date when much of the East Midlands will begin the switchover to digital television has been announced.
From 17 August 2011, most of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire and some areas of Derbyshire will lose their analogue BBC2 channel.
At the same time, the Freeview digital service will be boosted to reach virtually all households in the region.
The remaining analogue channels will go on 31 August, said Digital UK, which is co-ordinating the switchover.
Peter Monteith, the organisation's regional manager, said: "We are preparing for the end of the analogue TV era and the dawn of a fully digital age in which everyone can enjoy extra choice and easier recording.

"Digital UK and the Switchover Help Scheme will ensure people know about this important change, and that advice and practical support are available."
Some parts of the region which receive their signal from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter will begin the switch slightly later - on 7 September.
Anyone uncertain about the exact date for their area can use the postcode checker on Digital UK's website.
The switchover date for a small area north of Nottingham - 30 March 2011 - was announced earlier this year.
The analogue signal for Lincolnshire and the Chesterfield area will also be turned off next year, but the date has yet to be decided.
