Audio book download service starts in Bristol area

  • Published

Library users in the greater Bristol area can now download more than 600 audio books to listen to on their computer or MP3 player for free.

Users have to register with the Libraries West, external website and can download up to 10 titles.

A North Somerset Council spokesman said all the titles were available at any time, with no waiting lists.

"The loans automatically expire after three weeks so there's no worrying about fines or late fees," he added.

Titles include The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest by Stieg Larsson, and Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella to classics like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Jane Austen's Emma.

More titles are expected to be added to the service each month.

At present the service is restricted to library ticket holders in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
