Arrests follow car crime crackdown in west Kent

Seventeen people have been arrested following a police drive to identify motorists suspected of being involved in crime.

Kent Police used automatic number plate recognition to track vehicles in west Kent they believed were stolen or being used by criminals.

The 17 people were arrested in a joint operation with the Met Police for offences included theft and burglary.

Det Insp John Phillips said: "This is the start of a series of initiatives."
