Former lieutenant colonel accused of school fees fraud

A former British Army officer has appeared in court accused of a £250,000 expenses fraud, to pay for his children's public school fees.

Robert Jolleys, a former lieutenant colonel from Whalley in Lancashire, is accused of 22 counts of fraud.

They include 14 counts of obtaining money transfer by deception and eight of fraud by false representation under the Fraud Act 2006.

Mr Jolleys did not enter a plea and was granted bail by Swindon magistrates.

He will next appear before Swindon Crown Court on 24 November.
