West Midlands churches get £1.6m for repair work

Repair work on 24 West Midlands churches will be able to go ahead after £1.6m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The money from theRepair Grants for Places of Worship scheme, externalhas been awarded to churches in Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire.
Holy Trinity Church in Holdgate, Shropshire will receive the largest grant of £150,000.
Claire Brentnall, from the church council, said they would have had to close the church without the money.
She said: "We're just delighted, it's a very ancient building - there are cracks in the tower and the chancel which need addressing and all the roofs need retiling."
St Botolph church in Newbold-on-Avon, Warwickshire is getting £64,000 and St Francis Xavier's church in Hereford will get £35,000.
Other Shropshire churches include St Mary in Ellesmere, St Peter the Apostle in Worfield and Holy Trinity, Much Wenlock, Shropshire.
The Repair Grants for Places of Worship in England Scheme is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and administered by English Heritage.
