Brintons Carpets: Petition over proposed job cuts

  • Published

A petition is being set up at a football match in Worcestershire over jobs being cut at a carpet firm.

Last month, Brintons Carpets, based in Kidderminster, said it was consulting over cutting 150 posts at sites in the UK and China.

The firm said the cuts were "regrettable but necessary" so it could compete against other companies.

Kidderminster Harriers fans attending Saturday's home game against Darlington will be asked to sign the petition.

The Community Trade Union has organised Saturday's petition in Kidderminster.

A spokesman said it was about "fighting the Brintons redundancies in the town and registering our protest".

Brintons employs about 1,700 people globally, with 630 in the UK, including sites in Kidderminster and Shropshire.
