Severn Trent Water invests £150m in repairs

An extra £150m will be spent over the next three year repairing pipes and sewers across the Midlands.

Severn Trent Water announced it was spending more on refurbishing sewers after pollution incidents rose by 21% last year.

The amount of water lost through leaks has fallen by 7% in the year to the end of March - which has beaten the target set by the regulator.

The firm had already pledged to spend £1.6bn on its network.

Severn Trent Water supplies eight million customers across the Midlands.
