Chessington fall girl Jessica Blake making 'improvements'

A girl who suffered critical injuries falling from a ride at Chessington World of Adventures is said to be making "small improvements".

Jessica Blake, four, of Kent, suffered a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain and broken ribs in the 14ft (4.2m) fall from the Tomb Blaster ride queue.

She is being treated at St George's Hospital in Tooting, south-east London.

Jessica, of Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey, "fell from height" at the Surrey theme park, on 7 June.

She was treated by the resort's medical staff before being taken by ambulance to hospital in a conscious state.

Earlier, a hospital spokesman said: "Jessica remains at St George's Hospital, where she is making small improvements."

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inspections were focused on a fence panel that lines the ride's queue, according to the theme park.

A spokesman for Chessington said the ride remained closed and they were awaiting the outcome of the HSE investigation.
