A re-creation of the last scene of the 1969 film The Italian Job has been installed on top of an arts venue in Sussex.

The installation on the roof of the De La Warr Pavilion, in Bexhill, is part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

The sculpture, which is a coach balanced on the edge of the roof, was installed by a crane.

The work, by artist Richard Wilson, is titled Hang On A Minute Lads, I've Got A Great Idea.

'Cliff-hanger moment'

Mr Wilson said: "I'm a great fan of the film but I'm also inspired by this iconic building and I work with architecture as my material.

"We needed a cliff-hanger moment to happen here on this building and it's also performing as a plinth.

"It will be hydraulically driven to teeter on the edge."

The installation will remain on the roof until October.
