Bestival A3 crash: Ten still in hospital

Surrey Police said neither the road conditions nor the weather was thought to be a factor in the crash

Ten people remain in hospital following a crash in Surrey in which a coach on its way back from the Bestival music festival came off the A3.

Surrey Police said five of the people were in a serious condition. Another, a 21-year-old man, is described as having life-changing injuries.

Three people, including the driver of the Merseyside-based coach, 63-year-old Colin Daulby, died in the accident.

A total of 50 passengers, aged between 22 and 28, were injured near Hindhead.

Hit tree

The coach was returning to Merseyside from the Isle of Wight when it hit a tree between the Hindhead Tunnel and the Thursley exit of the A3.

Michael Molloy, 18, from Woolton, south Liverpool, was one of the three who died in the accident.

Police said the third person has not yet been formally identified.

The most seriously injured man was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, while others were taken to hospitals in south London, East Grinstead and Surrey.
