Power failure delays Eurostar and Channel Tunnel services
- Published
Eurostar and Eurotunnel passengers were delayed after a power failure closed one of the tunnels for four hours.
Eurotunnel said a fault with overhead power supplies forced it to shut the France-bound link on Thursday morning.
While some day-trippers did not turn up for trains, those who did were offered refunds or alternative travel dates.
Freight services were delayed by two hours and Eurostar trains by 30 minutes at the peak of the problems before the tunnel reopened at 13:00 GMT.
Eurotunnel apologised for "any inconvenience" to its passengers.
A spokesman said: "Our passenger service is currently disrupted due to an earlier technical fault in the tunnel which has now been resolved."
