Devon and Cornwall's police and crime commissioner has spent a night with officers on patrol in Plymouth.

Tony Hogg joined police patrolling pubs and clubs in Union Street, North Hill, the Barbican and Mutley on Friday.

Mr Hogg said he wanted to see the issues officers faced and added that tackling the misuse of alcohol remained one of his top priorities.

He also visited a custody suite, the CCTV control room and Crownhill Police Station.

Mr Hogg said: "I saw examples of antisocial behaviour and how the police dealt with it.

"Alcohol misuse, for me, is way up at the top of the list of issues, because of the damage it can do in terms of wider violence, the impact on children and the pressure it puts on the police service."
