CPS Truro, Plymouth, Taunton and Gloucester offices face closure

  • Published

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is planning to shut its offices in Truro, Plymouth, Taunton and Gloucester.

The CPS, which prosecutes cases investigated by the police, said it would have two main hubs for the South West, probably in Exeter and Bristol.

A CPS spokeswoman confirmed it was considering the closures as a cost-cutting measure, but there would be no job losses.

She said the plans were "still at a very early stage".

The spokeswoman added that there was no "finalised timeline" for the closures.

"We will not be pulling the rug from under our staff," she said.

"There should be no real impact on the public."
