Killhope Lead Mining Museum awarded lottery cash

Local people will be encouraged to become involved with the museum
A County Durham museum has been awarded heritage lottery funding of almost half a million pounds.
Killhope: the North of England Lead Mining Museum will use the grant to improve visitor facilities and activities, and for conservation work.
A new project manager will be appointed to increase opportunities for local people to get involved through volunteering.
Work will begin in July and is expected to finish by October 2015.
Mike Boase, manager at Killhope Museum, said: "We are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has given us this grant of £428,400.
"The museum is an important resource to the people who live in County Durham and the wider North Pennines and this investment will see new opportunities for community involvement, education and training."
