Mark Donnison was arrested 15 miles (25km) from Hollesley Bay
A prisoner who had already disappeared from one open jail, has been recaptured after going missing again from a different prison in Suffolk.
Mark Donnison, 43, absconded from HMP Hollesley Bay near Woodbridge on 15 July and was arrested in Ipswich on Friday evening.
Suffolk Police said he was found near Christchurch Mansion and returned to the prison system.
He also absconded from North Sea Camp open prison in Lincolnshire last year.
Donnison was serving an indeterminate sentence for robbery and assault, given to him at Hull Crown Court in 2007.
Following his disappearance from Hollesley Bay, there was criticism Donnison had been sent there, having previously absconded from North Sea Camp and been given a four-month custodial sentence for that offence.
Therese Coffey, MP for Suffolk Coastal, and Matthew Grove, Humberside Police & Crime Commissioner, said they would be writing to the Ministry of Justice about the case.
