A man who was arrested at Gatwick Airport has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with a terrorism offence.
Mashudur Rahman Choudhury, from Hampshire, was detained at the airport on 26 October, on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
Police said the charge related to "activity overseas".
The 30-year-old appeared via video link from Belmarsh Prison and was remanded in custody.
The defence told the court that some of evidence relates to text messaging, Skype and hi-tech material and would require defence experts.
Mr Choudhury is due to appear before the same court on 21 February for a plea hearing.
A provisional trial date was set for 28 April.
