Yorkshire Tour de France road closures

The Tour de France Grand Départ sets off from Leeds on 5 July, travelling through much of Yorkshire before arriving in Sheffield on the afternoon of 6 July.

Organisers have urged people to take advantage of extra train services running over the race weekend and to plan their journeys in advance.

An interactive map of all road closures and spectator hubs has been produced, but a summary and details of where to go for more information is listed below.

SATURDAY 5 JULY

Leeds

Much of the city centre will be closed to traffic from 00:01 BST until about 15:00 to allow for the route infrastructure to be prepared and then removed following the race, which begins on the Headrow at 11:10.

The A61 will also be closed for much of the day.

Bradford district

The A65 through Burley, Ilkley and Addingham will be closed from 05:30 until mid-afternoon.

Yorkshire Dales, Ripon and Harrogate

Cars parked along the route in North Yorkshire will need to be moved from 7pm on Friday 4 July until after the race.

Major roads including the A65, A6108 and A61 will be closed from early morning, along with much of Harrogate's town centre, where the first stage of the Tour de France ends at about 17:00.

SUNDAY 6 JULY

York

Roads on the route through York will be closed for "a minimum of eight hours" on the day of the race.

It begins on the Knavesmire at 09:00, goes through the centre of York before leaving the city via Boroughbridge Road,

Bishopthorpe Road, Castle and Bootham Road cars parks will also be closed.

Knaresborough and Harrogate

The A59 will be closed from 05:00 from Moor Monkton through Blubberhouses Moor to Bolton Abbey, along with access roads.

The B6160 will be closed from 06:30.

Bradford district

Roads through Addingham, Silsden, Keighley, Haworth and Oxenhope will be closed from 06:30 until mid-afternoon.

Hebden Bridge and Cragg Vale

Parking on the route through Calderdale will be banned from 00:01 and roads will be closed to traffic from 06:30.

Huddersfield and Holmfirth

Traffic will be barred from the route and surrounding roads from 07:30, while Holme Moss will be closed to everyone except emergency vehicles and residents from Friday 4 July.

Barnsley

The race route - Mortimer Road, Gilbert Hill and Windle Edge - will be closed from 00:01 on 6 July until late in the evening, "as soon as it is safe to do so".

Parking restrictions on other roads, including the A628 through Thurlstone.

Sheffield

Roads along the route in Sheffield will be closed for about 12 hours from 07:30, with extended closures in the Attercliffe area where stage two will finish at about 17:00.
