County Durham sewage plants to get £3m revamps
- Published
A £3m upgrade is planned for two sewage treatment works in County Durham.
Northumbrian Water said the work to the plants in West Auckland and Esh Winning would improve the quality of the water discharged into the environment after the waste treatment process.
The firm said the plants' capacities would also increase by 250,000 litres a day under the project.
The water quality of Hummer Beck in Evenwood Gate and Priest Burn in Esh Winning would be improved, it said.
The company is keeping both treatment works open during the work and pledged to keep disruption to a minimum.
