University of Chichester gets £8m for tech park

The University of Chichester said the technology park would have places for 500 students per year

A new engineering and digital technology park for the University of Chichester has been awarded £8m as part of a £35.8m government funding deal.

The West Sussex and Surrey Growth Deal cash comes on top of £202.4m funding announced last year by the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership.

It will also be used to cut congestion on the A2300 Burgess Hill Link Road and redevelop Gatwick railway station.

It will also fund small projects in Oxted, Caterham, Leatherhead and Epsom.

The university's new technology park, at its Bognor Regis campus, will have places for 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students per year.

"This investment in Bognor Regis builds upon the funding for the A29 re-alignment and the arrival of Rolls-Royce to the town," said Leader of Arun District Council Gillian Brown.

"It will help us to deliver our vision of making Bognor Regis a town where businesses, large and small, can thrive, create jobs for the town and where local people can access the very best education and training opportunities."
