Hebden Bridge has been badly hit by flood waters

Severe flooding has surged through parts of Lancashire and West and North Yorkshire - leading to evacuations and property damage.

Further heavy rain is forecast for both counties later - with weather and flood warnings in place.

Residents of Ribchester and Whalley , Lancashire, and Nidderdale Lodge Park in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, have already been evacuated after overnight downpours.

Widespread flooding has also been reported in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd.

The Met Office has issued red weather warnings, external - which denote risk to life - for those areas affected, with more rain forecast in the evening.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted, external a message urging people to stay away from the Ribchester and Whalley areas.
