Somme 100: Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Pals that fought in the battle

Thousands of soldiers fought and died in one of the deadliest battles of the First World War.

On the first day of the Battle of the Somme - 100 years ago - 3,366 soldiers from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regiments were killed including 502 from the Grimsby Pals battalion.
