Brigg & Goole MP Andrew Percy named as Northern Powerhouse minister

Andrew Percy is the MP for Brigg and Goole, East Yorkshire

Conservative MP Andrew Percy has been appointed as the new Northern Powerhouse minister by Prime Minister Theresa May.

The MP for Brigg and Goole replaces Stockton South MP James Wharton, who has moved to the Department for International Development.

A government spokesman said the Northern Powerhouse "will continue to be a priority".

Mr Percy said he was "keen to give this role my best shot".
