The £50m Condor Liberation service has been disrupted by engineering problems

A ferry blighted by mechanical issues since its launch in 2015 has broken down again leaving passengers stranded.

Condor Liberation passengers faced a two-hour delay after the high-speed trimaran bound for Guernsey and Jersey broke down in Poole.

The ferry, which had been due to leave at 09:15 GMT, was unable to sail after engineers found an electrical fault.

Condor Ferries said engineers had now fixed the issue in its "marine link", described as the brain of the ship.

The trimaran left on its the three hour crossing shortly after 11:15.

Its return sailing from Guernsey to Poole, which was due to leave at 1625 and arrive at 1925, will now leave at 1810 and arrive at 2115.

The £50m high-speed ferry service has been blighted with problems since its launch in March 2015.

The CEO of Condor Ferries, Paul Luxon, said the technical issue suffered by the Liberation was "annoying", as it came in a year with "very few issues".
