Stargazers across the south of England caught sight of the Northern Lights in the sky overnight after the biggest solar storm for years.
Spectacular purple, green, blue and pink skies could be seen across the country - but they are rarely seen in the South.
An aurora is formed by a solar flare erupting on the Sun, sending charged particles towards Earth which interact with our atmosphere.
Pictures taken by members of the public and BBC Weather Watchers captured the light phenomenon across Oxfordshire, Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said the conditions could continue into Saturday night, "but we still have to work out some details on where exactly that will be".
