A £3m scheme to regenerate a Bedfordshire town centre has been unveiled.

Shop fronts will be refurbished and pedestrian areas created in Bedford High Street.

Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson says the five-year scheme will bring significant benefits to the town.

He said: "This is an extremely exciting project which will revitalise the heart of Bedford."
