PC Declan Gabriel denies raping and sexual assaulting a teenage girl in an unmarked police car

A teenage girl told a social worker a serving police officer accused of raping her had done "the worst thing possible," a court has heard.

Northamptonshire police officer Declan Gabriel, 28, is accused of forcing the 17-year-old into an oral sex act in a patrol car.

He is being tried at Northampton Crown Court on two counts of sexual assault and misconduct in public office.

PC Gabriel denies the charges, claiming the girl sexually assaulted him.

The trial previously heard PC Gabriel had been called to an incident in Hunsbury, Northampton in September 2015, when the teenager had been kicked out of her house by her mother.

He took her to Mereway Police Station before driving her around for two hours in his unmarked car, the jury was told.

'Acting strange'

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke to social worker Adam Treen the following day.

Prosecutor Michael Lowe said Mr Treen told police the girl said "the man had started acting strange" as they drove around.

In a statement to officers, Mr Treen said she had told him PC Gabriel had "forced himself on her". When he had asked her what that meant she had said "he did the worst thing possible".

"She then told me he forced her to have sex with him," Mr Treen had added.

The trial continues.
