A woman has admitted stabbing her sister to death at the family home.

Saima Khan, 34, died at Overstone Road in Luton on 23 May last year, in what police called a "brutal" killing.

Sabah Khan, 27, pleaded guilty to the murder of the mother-of-four at the Old Bailey at the beginning of what was due to be her trial.

Khan was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the same court on Thursday. Police said the murder was "any family's worst nightmare".

Det Ch Insp Adam Gallop, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit, said: "It is beyond comprehension for the family to hear that one daughter has brutally murdered another.

"It has been a horrendous ordeal for them and we are pleased that we have received the guilty plea today."

He added that he could not be sure there would "ever be closure" for the family.
