Waddesdon air crash: Family tributes to men killed

Saavan Singh Mundae was described as a "beautiful, kind and loving son"

Tributes have been paid to the men who died in a mid-air collision between a helicopter and a plane.

Saavan Singh Mundae was one of four killed when the aircraft crashed near Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire on Friday.

The 18-year-old was a first-year student at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe.

Vice-chancellor Rebecca Bunting said he was a "thoughtful student" who was "very considerate of others".

In a statement released today, the teenager's family wrote: "Saavan's dream was to become a pilot and we encouraged his passion.

"We are devastated at the loss of our beautiful, kind and very loving son."

Mr Mundae was studying air transport with commercial pilot training and had "a keen interest in his degree".

Students and staff are being offered counselling.

Jaspal Singh Bahra's family said he had an "infectious smile"

Jaspal Singh Bhara, 27, Vietnamese pilot Nguyen Thanh Trung, 32, and helicopter instructor Mike Green also died in the collision.

Mr Singh Bahra's family described him as a "kind-hearted, generous and loving person" with an "infectious smile".

"Jaspal's dream was always to be a pilot. This dream was fulfilled when he became a well-respected, admired, trusted and a highly qualified pilot with professional licences.

"Jaspal's light will forever shine in our hearts like the proverbial candle in the wind."

Capt Trung was in the UK to train to become a military flight instructor

Capt Trung Thanh Nguyen's family said he was "the perfect military officer".

In a tribute they added: "He was a beloved member among his family, a great husband and father. He will be missed."

Capt Mike Green was described as a "respected" helicopter instructor

The collision took place 15 minutes after the helicopter took off at about 12:00 GMT on Friday.

The helicopter and Cessna 152 aeroplane had both taken off from Wycombe Air Park, also known as Booker Airfield, about 20 miles away from the crash site.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is investigating.
