Essex Police off-duty officer killed in crash with lorry

The crash happened on the A414 near Writtle

An off-duty police officer has died after the motorbike he was riding was in collision with a lorry.

Essex Police said he was riding along the A414 at Writtle, near Chelmsford, at 13:55 GMT on Thursday when the crash took place.

No arrests have been made and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time," a spokesman said.
