Shoppers could be seen queuing outside stores in Hemel Hempstead and Luton as retail reopened as part of the government's roadmap out of lockdown.

In Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, a Debenhams store temporarily reopened to sell off stock in its closing down sale

The 242-year-old Debenhams chain fell into administration in November

The long queues did not deter those who had made a trip to the town centre on the first day of reopening

People could also be seen queuing outside Primark in the town

But it wasn't just High Street chains - charity shops were also popular with buyers

Many people could be seen in Luton town centre as shops reopened

Primark was also a popular choice for shoppers in the Bedfordshire town
