Hemel Hempstead: Driver arrested after pedestrian dies in crash

A man in his 80s has been arrested after a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and died in Hertfordshire.
The crash, which killed a woman in her 40s, happened on Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead at 22:50 GMT on Sunday.
Police said the driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene, but an arrest was later carried out following a search of the local area.
Officers have appealed for witnesses or for anyone who saw a silver Ford Focus in the area to get in touch.
The arrested man remains in custody for questioning.
