Mid Bedfordshire by-election: 'I'm disappointed, of course,' says defeated Tory
Conservative candidate Festus Akinbusoye said he was "disappointed" as he made a quick exit following a historic defeat in the Mid Bedfordshire by-election.
Mr Akinbusoye polled 12,680 votes, losing to Labour's Alistair Strathern, who won the seat with a 1,192 majority.
The win is the largest Conservative majority overturned by Labour at a by-election since 1945.
As he left, Mr Akinbusoye said: "I'm disappointed, of course."
